Pediatric NIH Stroke Scale (PedNIHSS): A Structured Tool for Stroke Assessment in Children

Stroke in children, while rare compared to adults, carries a high burden of morbidity and mortality. Accurate assessment of stroke severity is critical for diagnosis, monitoring, and guiding treatment decisions. The Pediatric National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (PedNIHSS) is a pediatric adaptation of the adult NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), tailored to the unique neurological and developmental characteristics of children aged 2 to 18 years.
